ABOUT

I am a writer, artist, organizer and researcher in the environmental humanities. I am the Coordinating Editor of Media + Environment and am currently in a Ph.D. program in English at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I received my MSc in Comparative Literature from The University of Edinburgh in Scotland and my B.A. in English from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

I write about the biology, ecology, poetics, and politics of temporary waterbodies like vernal pools, ephemeral ponds, puddles, and sloughs.
I use the term ‘ecopoetics’ to trace connections between literary elements, ecological processes, artmarking practices, social and environmental policy, and cultural theory. My scholarship on ecopoetics considers the effects of overlapping systems in their dynamic and unfurling
states—perpetually negotiating ever-shifting logics and watering new streams of inquiry.

I am involved in anti-racist, abolitionist and anti-war movements at UCSB. I currently organize with UC Cops Off Campus and UC Researchers Against War.
